Welcome to Penned by Penelope! I hope that you'll find my blog to be a thoughtfully curated space that represents what I wear, read, watch, listen to, ponder, or frankly want to wear but just can't afford. Atlantic-Pacific, Gal Meets Glam, and Damsel in Dior make blogging look like so much fun, so this is my way of staying resilient. Enjoy!
My recent trip back to the East Coast had me frantically searching through my West Coast closet for my thick winter coats. When it's cold, we all know that the functional North Face/Patagonia jacket is the logical thing to wear. But when I tried on my brown coat and took a look in the mirror, all I saw was a girl hidden in a thermal sleeping bag. I began browsing for something functional and pretty and came across this beautiful picture:

This wintry white hooded dream is Givenchy at its best. She is Little Red Riding Hood escaping through the snow by cleverly trading in her red hood for a white one, while maintaining a sense of glam with make-up tips from fellow fairy tale damsel, Snow White (those red lips!). Since this coat is thousands of dollars and sold out everywhere, I had to move on. But this winter white got me thinking about adding some more white to my winter wardrobe, so I started looking for what I love: shoes. Since 2010, I have dreamed of Ralph Lauren resurrecting the shoes below (would love to wear these with black tights), but they've only produced this platform version.

These Madewell boots (on sale here) would be another great piece of winter white:

This Banana Republic cap toe pump is an affordable alternative with a nice contrasting heel! $120!

I love winter white and hopefully I'll have some pics to post soon. Any advice on what camera to use???
